....grew up in Chicago but has spent most of his adult life on the West Coast. He started cooking while attending college in Eugene, Oregon, at Café Soriah - a small Middle Eastern restaurant that to this day stands strong in the heart of town. Once in California, he trained under Mark Peel and Nancy Silverton at Campanile before moving on to work under Suzanne Goin at Lucques and AOC. In early 2007, chance brought Daniel to Clarklewis in South East Portland, where he led the kitchen, and religiously curated the beer selection. Daniel made his way back to Los Angeles were he worked as head chef at Axe and then at AMMO. Cooks County is Daniel’s first restaurant of his own. After more than a decade of cooking up a storm, Daniel values most the strong relationships he has cultivated with the many local farmers who he proudly calls his friends.
